Woman charged over fatal hit-and-run of man walking his dogs in Christchurch

A thirty year old Christchurch man has died following a hit and run incident while he was walking his dogs with police having a small car part from the vehicle in question but in need of more help,

A 55-year-old woman has been charged following a fatal hit-and-run in Christchurch in July on a man walking his dogs .

Steffan Pearce Loe, 30, was walking his dogs on Gayhurst Road, in Dallington, when he was struck by a vehicle at around 2.30am on July 5.

Mr Pearce Loe was critically injured and later died of his injuries in hospital.

Steffan Pearce-Loe was critically injured in a suspected hit and run early Thursday morning when he was walking his dogs.

The woman has been charged with failing to stop to ascertain injury after an accident, Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam said.

"Mr Pearce Loe's death was the result of an unfortunate set of circumstances, and serves as a reminder for all drivers to take care and pay attention, especially if driving at night," he said.

The woman will appear in Christchurch District Court on December 17.
