Winston Peters tipped to be given Foreign Affairs and to accept Deputy PM position

It wasn’t all smiles and compliments for Labour, NZ First and the Greens during the election campaign.

Winston Peters is tipped to be confirmed as having accepted the role of deputy prime minister, after being offered the position by Prime Minister-elect Jacinda Ardern.

Labour promised four NZ First four ministerial posts in the new government and one undersecretary role during election negotiations. 

With Peters tipped to become Foreign Minister, National leader Bill English has already had his say.

The roles in parliament will be announced tomorrow. Peters is also being tipped to become Foreign Minister, with Ron Mark to be given Defence.

Tracey Martin and Shane Jones are expected to be given portfolios. 

Last week Jacinda Ardern announced her Cabinet, which includes MPs: David Clark, Clare Curran, Kelvin Davis, Chris Hipkins, Iain Lees-Galloway, Andrew Little, Nanaia Mahuta,
Stuart Nash, Damien O'Connor, David Parker, Grant Robertson, Jenny Salesa, Carmel Sepuloni, Phil Twyford and Megan Woods. 

It is expected Grant Roberton will be Minster of Finance, with Kelvin Davis taking up Corrections.

The Green Party have been given three ministerial portfolios and one associate position, with James Shaw, Julie Anne Genter, Jan Logie and Eugenie Sage announced as those taking up positions. 

Gareth Hughes has been given Senior Whip, and Marama Davidson, second on the Green Party list, has been given Junior Whip. 

It is being tipped that Shaw will be given Climate Change, with Ms Sage to be given the Conservation portfolio. 

The agreement with the Green Party is set to be formally signed and made public today.
