Wild weather in Auckland overnight uproots eight-metre tall tree onto major thoroughfare

The tree outside St Matthew in the City church fell across lanes in on Wellesley Street.

A large tree has fallen onto a major Auckland CBD thoroughfare.

The eight-metre tree, outside St Matthew in the City church, was uprooted and fell onto Wellesley Street West after wild weather in Auckland last night.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand have cut the tree into a pile and it's now been moved off the road for traffic to flow freely.
