Police say there is no risk to the public from a white powder found in a central Wellington building today.
The New Zealand Defence Force found the white powder at about 3pm this afternoon.
It was sent in a letter to the New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC) in Wellington.
Police say the substance will be isolated and tested and is not thought to be a risk.
"Emergency services are attending as part of a standard response procedure," an NZIC spokesperson said earlier today.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operators from the NZDF have confirmed they were at the scene.
