West Auckland becomes New Zealand's new murder capital

A man who died in "suspicious" circumstances in West Auckland last night has become the latest casualty in a series of violent deaths that have rocked West Auckland since May.

Ambulance staff were called to Westech Place, Glen Eden at around 9.30pm and found a man in a serious condition, but were unable to save him.

A second man is in hospital with moderate injuries.

It's the seventh violent death to have occurred in West Auckland in the past six months, more than any other around the country.

Those killed in West Auckland in the past six months:

May: Farhat Rana Malik, 56, and her daughter Sidra Noor Malik were found murdered in their West Auckland home. Ishrat Malik has been charged with their murder.

May: Josh Roach was shot to death in his driveway in Ranui.

June: A man's body was found in his burning house in Massey, which police say was related to a domestic incident.

June: Arun Kumar was stabbed to death in front of his wife in their west Auckland dairy.A 13-year-old have been accused of his murderwhile a 12-year-old has been charged with manslaughter.

August: Millie Elder-Holmes' boyfriend Connor Morris was killed during a fight on Don Buck road in Massey.
