Susan Austen, 65, who was chair of the Voluntary Euthanasia Society's Wellington Branch, appeared in the Wellington District Court this morning.

She already faces two charges of importing class C drug Pentobarbitone, also known as Nembutal, which is used in other countries for voluntary euthanasia.

The Police Prosecutor requested a two week adjournment, indicating another, unspecified charge, is expected to be laid in the next couple of weeks.

A number of supporters gathered outside the court this morning, waving placards that said "a peaceful death is everybody's right".

The court's public gallery was also full.
