House fire in Wellington started in asbestos-ridden roof

A house fire in Wellington that is believed to have started in a roof made up of asbestos has now been extinguished.

Emergency services were called at 7.37am to the fire on Miles Crescent in Newlands.

Four fire trucks are in attendance, along with two special appliances.

They are now dampening down hotspots.

There are no reported injuries or damage to surrounding properties.
