Week-long searches yield no trace of missing Pahiatua woman

Police are appealing for sightings of a Pahiatua woman who they've found no sign of despite a week of land and water searches.

Elizabeth Udy, or Lizzie as she is known, was last seen at about 3am on Wednesday October 11, when she was wearing a nightgown in  Pahiatua township, east of Palmerston North.

Police believe the 45-year-old may have made her way to the Managatainoka River by the Pahiatua Town Bridge and say it's possible she may have entered the river on the boundaries of Pahiatua.

Despite a week of land and water searches, police have been unable to locate any sign of Ms Udy or gain information concerning her current whereabouts.

She has not made contact with any of her friends or family and her bank and phone accounts remain unused, police said in a statement.

Police do not believe Ms Udy has access to a vehicle.

They believe that if she has left Pahiatua she would have done so on foot, and would have to have been uplifted by someone to travel any great distance.

Ms Udy is described as Caucasian, of slim build, and about 155cm tall.

Police are asking Pahiatua residents to check their properties and surrounding areas, and remain alert to the fact Ms Udy is missing from the area.

Anyone who has seen her  or has information which might help police locate her is being asked to contact their nearest police station.
