Weather warnings set in place as heavy rain is set to hit parts of NZ

An active front preceded by strong winds is expected to forecast across the eastern side of the South Island today.

Heavy rain is expected along the South Island West Coast and central North Island (Bay of Plenty to Wellington).

MetService has issued a warning that suggests strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures.

Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
