Watch: 'You will be home soon' – new Labour MP makes moving tribute to cousin whose remains still lie inside Pike River Mine

Labour MP Angie Warren-Clark has given a touching tribute to her cousin who was killed in the Pike River Mine disaster during her maiden speech to Parliament.

Ms Warren-Clark talked about her upbringing and thanked her family, before addressing her late cousin in a moving tribute.

"I call to my cousin who lies cold in the depths of that mine, wait just a little longer you will be home soon. If we on this side of the house have anything to do about it

"I am proud that my party, Andrew Little and our coalition partners have committed to doing all that is possible to bring our men home," Ms Warren-Clark said.

Her cosuin was Glen Cruise, 35.

Ms Warren-Clark gained entry into Parliament after the special vote count gave her party an extra seat.

She is 46 on the Labour list and is one of five MPs in Parliament from the Bay of Plenty region.
