Attempted abduction of Napier schoolgirl: Police reveal first details of wanted man

A man who forcefully grabbed a Napier schoolgirl from behind this morning has been described as smelling of alcohol, having a lot of wrinkles and a croaky voice. 

Detective Michael Signal said at 8.30am the man cycled past the Tamatea High School girl, before circling back and grabbing her from behind. 

"He grabbed her by the hair with some force, resulting in scratches to her forehead," Mr Signal said. 

She kicked the man, causing him to fall off his bike. 

The man is described as European, skinny, aged 40s or 50s and about 6ft tall. 

He has blond or sandy brown hair, wide eyes and a lot of wrinkles. 

He was wearing a green jersey, had a smell of alcohol, and had a croaky voice, Mr Signal said.
