James Shaw says he has full faith in Jacinda Ardern to get a good outcome from coalition talks with Winston Peters, despite the Greens not holding their own talks with possible coalition partner NZ First.
"Jacinda made fairness one of her principle values in the campaign. I trust her and she seems to be doing a good job of [the talks]," he said after his morning meeting with Labour.
The Green Party leader says party staff made contact with NZ First "to say if they wanted to, we're available" for discussions.
However Winston Peters says he's not aware of an approach from the Greens for a meeting, as New Zealand First continues coalition talks with National and Labour.
But Mr Shaw says Labour are working "very hard" on creating a "stable and responsible government that goes the full distance".
"We campaigned so hard to change the government, we've thrown everything at it. Its got to be worth it for everybody."
He said he wasn't concerned Mr Peters had extended his decision time frame.
"A day here a day there is no big deal."
