Watch: Stomach-churning approach for Air NZ passengers landing in windy Wellington

July 1, 2020

High winds are already making travel uncomfortable for those landing in Wellington, with worse predicted to come.

There was a stomach-churning approach to Wellington Airport this morning for those aboard an Air New Zealand flight.

1 NEWS captured vision of the plane swaying as it came into land.

Winds of up to 110km/h are predicted to hit the capital later today, with the Interislander already cancelling a number of crossings, with six metre swells predicted.

The Kaitaki departed the capital this morning, while other services were cancelled due to the large swells.
