Representatives of the Peruvian Football Team were welcomed to Ruapotaka Marae in Glen Innes in traditional Maori fashion earlier this week.
The coming together of the two nationalities made for a cultured evening, with songs and performances from both groups.
The Peruvians soon relaxed into the new environment, after appearing a little timid in the initial welcome onto the marae.
One of the representatives even "joked" that he hoped the Peruvian Football team would be victorious in the upcoming game against the All Whites.
