The country's first refugee MP was speaking at a Stop Racism rally outside Parliament today.

New Zealand's first refugee MP, Golriz Ghahraman, has given a passionate speech at a Stop Racism Rally outside Parliament today.

The Green Party MP spoke about her experience as an Iranian refugee coming to New Zealand and the struggle she has faced to be accepted into Kiwi society.

"I want to thank you all from the bottom of my Kiwi Iranian refugee heart for being here today and standing with the people who are voiceless, who have been silenced.

"Who have all that internalised self hate that comes with knowing you live in a community where race supremacy still exists, where people do tell us were not Kiwi enough," Ms Ghahraman told the crowd.

A small group of National Front members drew the ire of people attending a stop racism rally in Wellington.

Later on tensions boiled over as a small group of National Front members clashed with demonstrators at the Aukati Stop Racism rally.

Arguments broke out and glitter bombs were thrown as National Front claimed to be there promoting the truth about diversity.

The group were there for just 30 minutes before police escorted them away, whilst also being chased away by hundreds of anti-racism protesters chanting "refugees welcome, racists not".

National Front believe that the continued inclusion of racial diversity into New Zealand will cause white genocide.
