Jacinda Ardern has ruled out putting the prime ministership on the table for Winston Peters, saying her talks with the NZ First leader were 100 per cent about policy.
On TVNZ 1's Breakfast this morning, the Labour leader said "both major parties ruled out that being something up on offer".
The NZ First leader emerged from his meeting with National this morning, and is heading to his meeting with Labour.
Despite the details of the secretive negotiations being limited to policy snippits revealed by Mr Peters , Ms Ardern said "it does a disservice to assume that conversations in these negotiations has been about the baubles of office, when actually we've been focused on what we'll do for New Zealand."
She said revealing details "undermined the integirty" of the negotiating process.
"I'm not disclosing what happened in the room, but have said all along [the prime ministership] is not something on offer so why would someone seek it?"
"Labour will not walk out of a negotiation with that being a role that's being transferred, I'm happy to reiterate that again."
When pressed by host Jack Tame, Ms Ardern answered "yes", when asked if the talks had been 100 per cent about policy.
The third day of negotiations begin today, with Labour meeting with Mr Peters at 9.30am and National at midday.
