Watch: Incredible new images from space show how Kaikoura's earth jolted apart

New images from the European Space Agency's (ESA) Sentinel 2 space mission have given a new perspective on the earth's movements in Kaikoura, as the 7.8 earthquake struck on November 15.

A moving GIF, released by the ESA, shows what the jolt looked like from space.

The Sentinel 2 has published several other telling images from space, since the quake.

The Sentinel 2 is two identical satellites designed to offer observations to assist primarily in European forest monitoring, land changes and natural disaster management.
