An orca came a little too close for comfort today, after friends enjoying a swim in the Coromandel Peninsula were joined by the friendly creature they named Willy.
Kelly Lindsay captured the moment when friends Courtney Foster, Olvia Van Schaik, Christina Whitehead, Shaun Whitehead and Jared Bekhuis turned around and noticed Willy.
Onlookers can be heard yelling at swimmers to get out of the water as Willy swims towards the beach-goers.
"Oh my god, that is so cool," can be heard in the background.
Willy entertains the people on the beach by rolling onto its back.
