This week on Seven Sharp's Hilary Helps segment, Hilary Barry is helping a couple of boss ladies making a difference to girls right around the country.
Soala Wilson and her accountant friend Chrissy, who run a busy hair salon in Auckland's Grey Lynn, started a charity called Sanitary Products in New Zealand Schools (SPINZS).
They started the charity after hearing that girls were skipping school every month because their families couldn't afford to buy them sanitary products.
"I thought, this is me. I felt a connection to it because I grew up poor," Ms Wilson told Seven Sharp.
"You know, toilet paper was what we had because we didn't have any money. We really were poor."
The salon is where these fairy godmothers make it all happen - receiving donations of pads, tampons and cups, then boxing them up and delivering them to schools all over New Zealand.
