Jacinda Ardern's partner, Clarke Gayford, was right by her side as she became New Zealand's 40th Prime Minister today, saying the grin on his face said it all.
Mr Gayford was asked if he was proud of his partner's achievements shortly after Ms Ardern addressed the public for the first time as Prime Minister.
"The grin on my face says it all, I'm still coming to terms with it but am enormously proud.
"Hopefully nothing (will change), I'm still flat out working and I'll continue to do that so who knows," he said.
When quizzed on what his new title will be now he is officially partnered up with New Zealand's PM he answered with a laugh.
"There's no title, look my job is just to make sure that she's okay and be in the background going 'have you eaten your lunch, have you slept properly, you've got lipstick on your teeth'.
"That's my job".
Mr Gayford hosts his own TV fishing show, between doing all of the above.
