Mike Hosking and Toni Street have just farewelled Seven Sharp after four years co-hosting the prime time show on TVNZ1.
The duo announced on last night's programme that tonight's would be their last and tonight they were both on the brink of tears as they bowed out.
"Thank you so much for watching this show, first of all. We have had the best four years," Toni said to the audience, Mike standing beside her.
"Just like Mike, when they first rang me and said they'd like me to host this show I was a little nervous to start with because I was hosting Breakfast and I enjoyed it.
"But when they said the opportunity to work with you, Mike, I couldn't pass it up. And I knew we'd make a go of it. And your backing of me has been fantastic this year, so thank you. Especially when I was sick, thank you for always being there," she said.
Toni then thanks the team "for all your backing as well - our producers, our cameramen and our reporters - we have had the best four years and we are going to miss you all dearly".
Mike agreed, saying: "This is the thing you learn about television as opposed to radio, television is resource heavy. The people behind the scene really make it. It's big machine. We're a couple of little cogs in front of it all.
"Most importantly for me, I get to go home and spend more time with my family. And that's what counts. So thank you. Merry Christmas, and you can sing us out."
He handed over to Sol3 Mio who sang "Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day" as Toni and Mike's families went on set to hand them bunches of flowers.
There were hugs for the outgoing presenters from family and colleagues.
The programme also included a package of "some of the more memorable moments" from Mike and Toni's last four years on Seven Sharp, and programme staff dancing to 'Happy Holiday'.
Toni last night said she wants to spend more time with her family and Mike said, "Given we started together, we end together".
Seven Sharp will have a new presenting line-up when it returns in February after the holiday break.
An announcement on the new hosts is expected in January.
