The former US President was filmed at Mechanics Bay in Auckland this morning.

Former US president Barack Obama has been filmed for the first time in New Zealand, heading off for a round of golf in Northland.

Mr Obama, dressed casually was all smiles as he walk to a helicopter in Auckland's Mechanics Bay this morning.

The chopper took off, expected to take Mr Obama to Northland where he's set to play golf with former New Zealand prime minister John Key and others.
