Watch: Fiordland penguin takes wrong turn, ends up on 90 Mile Beach

December 11, 2019

Over the past month, a team of volunteers, vets and others have gradually returned the Fiordland crested penguin back down country.

A Fiordland crested penguin was found on Northland's Ninety Mile Beach last week after making an epic journey.

Over the past month a dedicated team of vets and volunteers has managed to gradually shift the bird back south to its natural habitat.

Seven Sharp reporter Julian Lee accompanied the little penguin over the Cook Strait in the video above.
