Winston Peters has struck a respectful note towards Jacinda Ardern, in today's first joint Labour and NZ First press conference, in the Beehive.

The Labour and NZ First leaders are set to lead the country for the next three years.

Mr Peters repeatedly referred to Ms Ardern as prime minister, in addressing the media as the pair discussed some of the joint policy they have agreed on.

They were speaking after the pair had signed a joint Coalition deal, outlining the principles and policies of the new NZ government.

PM-elect Jacinda Ardern says the two parties are committed to growing the economy and creating a fairer NZ.
