March 19, 2019

Traffic came to a standstill on Hagley Ave yesterday when Christchurch Girls’ High School and Christchurch Boys’ High School performed a moving tribute to show their love and support for the Muslim community in the wake of Friday's terror attacks.

Students sang songs and performed a moving haka with one Muslim woman coming up to one of the students and giving her a hug in appreciation.

The video was posted on Christchurch Victims Organising Committee Facebook page. The post says, "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is New Zealand at its absolute finest." It ends, "Love will ALWAYS overcome hate."

The video has been shared almost 4,000 times and has received more than 170,000 views.
