Heavy rain in the capital overnight has caused "an absolute mess" after a large 10m-wide landslip in Wellington's Newtown slid onto Millward St and ruptured gas and water mains.
This morning, a car near the slip was teetering on the edge of Millward St after part of it gave way.
The slip took place about 8.30pm yesterday, bringing down a power pole.
Power was cut for a short time to the area, but has since been back up and running.
