Making hot cross buns is an enduring task, but it's a labour of love for bakers around the country.
The title of best buns is not one given out lightly. TVNZ1's Seven Sharp was given the honour of announcing the bakeries with the best.
In third place was Ten O'Clock Cookie Bakery Cafe in Masterton.
Second went to New World in Birkenhead, Auckland.
And the winner was Michael's Bakery in Hillmorton, Christchurch.
