Watch: Accident leaves 4000 pies strewn across South Auckland road

February 26, 2019

Trays of pies were left strewn across the road in South Auckland this morning after a delivery truck lost its load while rounding a corner.

The incident, which will be an upsetting sight to many Kiwi pie enthusiasts, took place in Manukau at the corner of Davies Ave and Manukau Station Rd.

Big Ben Pies posted a tribute to its fallen pastries to Facebook, claiming there were 4000 of the tasty treats lost in the accident.

"It's a sad day for us at Big Ben pies. We've lost 4000 of our most delicious pies as they occupied Manukau Station Road this morning.

"Please go out and buy a Big Ben pie for lunch in remembrance of the 4000 lost today. Rest assured we’ll look after all the sausage rolls.
R.I.PIE," the post reads.

Counties Manukau Police also posted footage of the pie-pile-up to their Facebook page warning road users to "keep your pies on the road".
