Waikato crash leaves two with serious injuries

Two people are in a serious condition after two vehicles crashed near Cambridge last night.

Emergency services responded to the crash between a car and a ute on Tirau Road, State Highway One at around 11.30pm.

Police say one vehicle crossed the centre line of the road before crashing into the other vehicle.

Two people had to be freed from the vehicles before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
