However not everyone was happy to see him, with two women voicing their displeasure at policy surrounding Dunedin Hospital.

"They're going as fast as they can," Mr English said about the hospital rebuild.

"No, I don't believe you," one of the two woman said.

"Four weeks out from the election, I don't wanna shake your hand," added the second woman as they both turned and walked away.

The rest of the visit went smoothly as the Prime Minister stopped for handshakes and selfies with well wishers.

Mr English had earlier faced protesters at Dunedin Hospital where he announced over $1 billion will be spent on "the complete rebuild" of Dunedin Hospital, the biggest build of its type in the country.

The build of the new hospital will be the largest in New Zealand’s history, says Prime Minister Bill English.
