Victim of Christchurch mosque shooting to be laid to rest in Auckland tomorrow

One of the victims of the Christchurch shootings will be laid to rest in Auckland tomorrow afternoon.

Haji Hafiz Musa Patel was killed last Friday, one of 50 people who were gunned down in the Christchurch terror attack.

The Fiji Muslim League has confirmed the funeral will be held at 4pm at Manukau Memorial Gardens in Puhinui, Auckland, Fiji’s FCB News reported today.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said tonight that motorists in the Auckland Airport area tomorrow afternoon are advised to plan ahead because of the event.

“The 4pm timing of the event coincides with the start of evening peak traffic so motorists can expect some traffic congestion and delay in the area. People trying to get to the airport for flights need to allow extra time,” said Auckland Operations Manager Rua Pani.

The first burials of the terror attack victims took place today. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed today that the bodies of 30 victims had been approved for release to their families, according to Radio New Zealand.
