Vehicle rolls into power lines during crash, sparking scrub fire in Far North

One person has been removed from the vehicle and taken to Kaitaia Hospital.

A large scrub fire sparked by a vehicle crashing into power lines in the Far North has worsened.

Fire and Emergency NZ told 1 NEWS around 50 hectares of scrub is on fire and is not contained. 

The scrub fire on Inland Road, Karikari Peninsula has now reached fourth alarm. 

One person was removed from the vehicle that crashed and taken to Kaitaia Hospital in a moderate condition.

There are now 12 fire vehicles on scene and more on the way.
