Six injured, one critical, in Far North crash

Six people have been injured today, one critically, in an accident in the Far North town of Kaikohe this morning.

The accident happened at about 9:40am on Mangatoa Road and SH12.

St John Ambulance report they attended to six people involved, one has critical injuries, three moderate and two minor.

Two helicopters were in attendance. 

An Auckland Westpac Rescue helicopter transported a young girl who suffered a mild head injury to Whangarei Hospital, she is considered to be in a serious condition.

Meanwhile, crew of the Northland Emergency Services Trust transported a patient in a critical condition to Auckland's Starship Hospital.

Police say the crash scene will be cordoned off while emergency services attend.
