Two people have been winched to safety this afternoon after becoming trapped by the tide at Northern Manukau Heads, in the west Auckland region.
A man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s were rescued by a Westpac Rescue Helicopter at 4.10pm this afternoon from Destruction Gully, east of Whatipu Beach.
The pair were dropped off at the Whatipu car park nearby.
Neither of the pair was injured in the incident.
