Two people killed in Waikato crash

Two people have been killed in a two-car crash in the Waikato town of Otorohanga this morning.

Emergency services were called to the serious crash on State Highway 3, near Awatene Road shorty before 8am.

Police initially said one person had died and another was critically injured, but the injured person has since died.

The road is closed with diversions in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The Serious Crash Unit will attend the scene.
