Two men wanted over firearms, fleeing driver incident in Whanganui

Police are looking for two people following the arrest of a man for serious offences  in Whanganui.

On Monday officers arrested a 30-year-old man who had been wanted by police.

Police say the man appeared in court on Tuesday charged with a range of offences, including using a firearm against police.

The firearms charge arose during a fleeing driver incident on 27 March 2019.

The investigation is continuing as police continue to try and find two other people involved in the fleeing driver incident, police say.

Police are seeking sightings of a 2005 red or maroon coloured Mitsubishi Galant.

This car was known to be in the Dublin Street and Wicksteed Street area on March 27 between approximately 11:15pm and 11:40pm.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a Māori man in his early to mid 20s with facial hair and was wearing a green hunting top with a hood. The other person sought is also a male.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may know the identity of these people or has any information that would help.
