Two men shot dead in Northland

Police say the men found dead at a rural property west of Whangārei are known to each other.

Two men are dead following a shooting in Northland.

Police were notified of the incident on Mangakahia Road, Awarua, shortly after 7am, and upon arrival at the rural property found two people dead.

Police say the men were known to each other and they are not looking for anyone else. 

Cordons are in place and an investigation has been launched.

The area is west of Whangārei.
