Truck driver dead after crash involving car near Te Awamutu

One person is died after a crash between a truck and a car near Te Awamutu this afternoon.

Police say the crash occurred at 1pm, on Ohaupo Road between Te Rahu Drive and Greenhill Drive.

The driver of the truck has died.

"Initial information suggests the driver of the car sustained moderate injuries," police said in a statement.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.
