Tributes flow after TVNZ presenter Greg Boyed dies suddenly

People from across New Zealand have been quick to say how likeable and warm TVNZ news presenter Greg Boyed was in his dealings with all those he met.

Greg had a distinguished career across many TVNZ News and Current Affairs programmes.

It was announced today that Greg, 48, died suddenly while in Switzerland earlier this week with his wife and youngest child.

Tributes were paid from across the worlds of media, politics and from the many thousands who had watched him on their TV screens over the past 25 years.

Members of the public also paid their respects to Greg on the 1 NEWS Facebook page .

"He had a funny sense of humour. I would always laugh when he would quickly give a smart comment about a particular story," said Nora Falconer.

The 48-year-old 1 NEWS Tonight presenter was on holiday with his family in Switzerland when he died.

"Sending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and to TVNZ staff."

"Such devastating news," wrote Shellie Ebert.

"He was one of my favourite presenters. Condolences to his family and to TVNZ at this extremely sad time."
