Transport ministry fraudster Joanne Harrison to be deported back to UK

December 17, 2018

Harrison stole nearly $750,000 from her employer in offending that spanned a decade.

Convicted fraudster Joanne Harrison, who stole nearly $750,000 while working for the Ministry of Transport, will be deported back to the UK.

Harrison was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison in February last year.

It was found she used fictitious invoices made out to three different entities, which had bank accounts in her name, and spent the money on personal credit cards and a Kiwibank home loan.

The Parole Board says she passed money onto her business partner to deflect from her theft, which spanned a 10-year period.

Harrison, 52, will be deported to the UK in January 2019 according to a ruling released by the parole board today.
