January 20, 2019

Train services on the Johnsonville Line in Wellington are currently suspended after a car drove onto the tracks at Khandallah station.

Photos on social media showed a vehicle had driven over the edge at the station with the front part of the car landing on the tracks.

Trains are running between Wellington and Ngaio with services from Ngaio to Johnsonville replaced by buses.

Police say they received a report a car had driven off the platform on the tracks at Khandallah Station about 6pm.

The vehicle was blocking the northbound track.

No one was injured in the incident.

A tow truck is at the scene now ready to remove the vehicle.

Trains from Wellington and Ngaio will be running to their normal timetable.
