Three men were arrested yesterday after police executed several search warrants at addresses linked to the Mongrel Mob in Nelson.

Police say the arrests were made over an altercation that took place on Saturday, September 1.

They report that the incident appears to have been an internal gang dispute, during which a male victim received minor injuries.

The men have been charged jointly for assault with intent to injure.

"Police have and will continue to take a firm line on gang violence and intimidation within the community," said Detective Sergeant Lex Bruning.

"We want to reassure members of the public that any behaviour which adversely impacts on the community will be actively policed."

The three men will appear at Nelson District Court on Tuesday, September 18.
