Three dogs attack woman in Bay of Plenty, leaving her with critical injuries

November 7, 2018

A woman is critically injured after being attacked by three dogs in the Bay of Plenty town of Ōpōtiki.

Police say they received a report of a dog attack in the township of Te Kaha at around 12.37pm on Friday.

A woman was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries and inquiries are ongoing, police said this afternoon.

The hospital reports she is in a critical but stable condition today.

Ōpōtiki Mayor John Forbes says he understands the dogs belonged to the 60-year-old victim's brother and that she lived with family members at the house the dogs were from.

The woman received cuts to her head, neck, abdomen and legs.

The three dogs involved have been seized by Ōpōtiki  District Council and are being held at the pound.
