Three arrested after more than 1kg of cocaine seized in Wellington

On November 1st police seized $20 million worth of cocaine in Tauranga.

Police yesterday arrested three foreign nationals alleged to have been part of a cocaine supply chain to Wellington.

An operation by New Zealand's national organised crime group arrested two Columbian nationals aged in their 20s and 30s, and a Malaysian man in his 50s, who were found in possession of 1kg of cocaine when they were arrested in Lower Hutt yesterday morning.

In a statement police said the men are believed to have imported cocaine from overseas for distribution in the Wellington area.

Police say the men are facing a range of charges including supplying cocaine and possession of cocaine for supply and will appear in Wellington District Court today.

Additional search warrants undertaken by police at a number of addresses in the Hutt Valley yesterday also seized a further 350 grams of cocaine.
