More than 100 people turned out in Tauranga to see the America's Cup today.
A group of sailors carried the Auld Mug by boat to the city's waterfront.
One of them was Peter Burling, a Tauranga local and the youngest helmsman to win the America's Cup.
"It's amazing to see how many of you have managed to come out on a beautiful sunny Tauranga day," Burling joked about the weather.
Burling's old school welcomed him and the Auld Mug with a rousing haka and he was quick to thank the local community for their support.
"I just think there's a strong sense of striving for excellence.. good quality staff and boys go on to achieve on the international stage," said Tauranga Boys' College principal Robert Manghan.
