Thousands report feeling 4.7 magnitude earthquake centred off Paraparaumu coast

Thousands of people have reported feeling a 4.7 magnitude earthquake that was centred off the Paraparaumu coast this evening.

According to GeoNet , the earthquake struck in water 50 km north-west of Paraparaumu at a depth of 57 kilometres.

Nearly 4000 people have so far reported feeling the quake, described as light by GeoNet, which struck at 7.27pm.
