April 11, 2018

The tree has come down in the central suburb of Sandringham.

Over 91,000 homes and businesses remain without power after yesterday's storm caused extensive damage to Auckland's power network, Vector says.

More than 100 Vector field outage staff have been working throughout the region in response to to downed power lines, faults, power cuts and other damage.

"The vast majority of these outages have been caused by downed trees and trees falling onto power lines," Vector said in a statement.

Extra response crews have been brought in from outside of Auckland to assist with the high number of call-outs.

Approximately 90,000 Vector customers have since had their power restored following the incident.

It may take several days until power is fully restored in some areas due to the extensive damage to the power network, Vector says.
