Power has been restored to thousands of homes which were affected by an outage in the Coromandel Peninsula this morning.
Approximately 17286 properties in Hikuai, Hahei and Whitianga were affected, according to PowerCo.
Around 17,000 properties in and around Whitiangi lost power at 7.10am, PowerCo said in a statement. All customers’ power was back on just after 8.30am.
The cause of the power outage is currently under investigation.
