Chihuahuas, bulldogs, pugs and pomeranians were just a few of the breeds among hundreds of dogs hitting the streets today in perhaps the world's biggest synchronised global walking events.
The Big Dog Walk With Lots of Dogs was held today in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton and Napier attracting thousands of people and their dogs.
The exciting event is the brainchild of standup comedian Alice Brine and it all started with a single Facebook event for Wellington which viral very quickly, says Ms Brine.
"I just wanted to go on a walk with lots of dogs and I thought the best way to do that was to make a public event and ask anyone if they would want to go on a walk with lots of dogs - and it turns out they did."
The Wellington leg took place on Oriental Parade where some dogs went all out and dressed up in their favourite outfits.
One dog was spotted dressed up as the hero of children's picture books, Hairy Maclary.
Meanwhile, dog owners met to share stories about their pets.
Each event today was linked to a local animal charity including HUHA, Passion 4 Paws, Chained Dog Awareness and the SPCA.
