Teens, 15 and 13, arrested after allegedly fleeing police in stolen vehicle in Gisborne

Two youths aged 15 and 13 have been arrested after allegedly fleeing police in a stolen vehicle which was stopped by road spikes in Gisborne this afternoon.

Police say they located the silver Honda Torneo on Tiniroto Road around 1.25pm, the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

Police lost sight of the fleeing vehicle and the pursuit was abandoned.

The vehicle was located on Brunton Road a short time later, road spikes were successfully deployed and the vehicle came to a stop on Bell Road.

The two occupants were taken into police custody.

A 15-year-old will appear at the Gisborne Youth Court tomorrow on driving and dishonesty charges.

A 13-year-old will appear in Youth Court next month on a charge of unlawfully getting in to a vehicle.
